Anton Ian Nielsen (b. 1992)

Anton Ian Nielsen is a Danish visual artist and author working primarily with painting and drawing, alongside a broader practice that includes illustration, public art, and installations. His work moves between intuitive image-making and material-driven processes, balancing immediacy with sustained studio practice.

With a background in technical design and industrial production, Nielsen approaches painting with a strong awareness of structure, surface, and material presence. His recent works are executed primarily in oil and focus on the relationship between figure, space, and inner movement.

Nielsen maintains an ongoing collaboration with SPACE Gallery, while continuing to exhibit in other gallery and group show contexts in Denmark. He has also worked in large-scale public settings, including projects connected to Roskilde Festival since 2022.

Alongside his visual art practice, Nielsen is published as an author and illustrator at Buster Nordic. Across media, his practice is unified by an interest in imagery as a way of accessing subconscious states, symbolic structures, and non-linear experiences of time and space.
